Die erste Woche war bereits sehr aufregend und anstrengend... neben Schulbesuchen gab es am Mittwoch das AssistentInnentreffen (wobei wir dieses schnell zu einem Ausflug zum Wasserfall - Cascades Niagara umgemodelt haben).
The first week on the island was quite exciting and also tiring... going to school and visiting classes; on Wednesday all the language assistants had a meeting which we used for a trip to the waterfalls (Cascades Niagara ;-) )
Ausserdem durften wir Assistentinnen am Gymnasium am Donnerstag an einem Ausflug in einen der 3 Talkessel, den Cirque de Salazie teilnehmen. Dort gabs viel Natur und vormittags Sonne; zu Mittag kreolisches Essen und nachmittags ein bisschen Regen.
Besides that, the assistants of the lycée were invited on Thursday on a trip to the "Cirque de Salazie" - a very nice area on the island. It was nice to enjoy the nature there, it was even quite sunny in the morning, but in the afternoon it rained... and for lunch we had traditional créole cuisine (see pictures).
Am Freitag stand wieder Schule am Stundenplan und am nachmittag fuhr einer meiner 4 Lehrer mit 2 Spanierinnen und mir an den Strand... aufgrund des Staus kamen wir grad rechtzeitig zum Sonnenuntergang und fuhren gleich wieder zurueck. War trotzdem sehr schoen.
On Friday I went to school again and in the afternoon one of the teachers took 2 spanish colleagues and me to the beach. We were so glad to see the beach finally but because of traffic jams we only reached Boucan Canot to see the sunset and went right back to St. Denis.
